League: Southern Association
History: The Vols were a charter member of the Southern Association and won early pennants in 1908 and 1916. Between 1939 and 1944 they established a dynasty winning the League playoff championship six consecutive times. The 1940 Vols included future Major League star Johnny Sain in their rotation. The 1949 Vols led by Carl Sawatski's 153 RBIs and 45 home runs and Bob Borkowski's .376 batting average finished first and again won the championship playoff. In 1960, Nashville pitcher Jim Maloney led the league in with 14 wins with a 2.79 ERA and 162 strikeouts.
